Organization Changes
After 14 years, Russ Smith has decided to resign as Executive Director of SOAR to pursue other opportunities. I want to express my appreciation to Russ for his years of visionary leadership.
As I assume the position of Executive Director, I am overwhelmed by what exciting times these are for SOAR. Obviously it is a time of transition, however we have an extremely talented and dedicated staff and we are making plans to move into the future. I look forward to working with our team of volunteers and partners as we work together for the youth at SOAR.

Our Vision remains the same
SOAR Youth Ministries magnifies the inherent potential in urban youth by enabling them to have the highest regard for themselves and others. SOAR creatively connects and bridges the gap between community resources focused on addressing local needs and giving back through faith-based service. As a ministry, it models obedience to God’s good, pleasing and perfect will.

Our Mission
SOAR challenges inner-city youth with the love of Jesus Christ, to serve others and reconcile by
creatively meeting their spiritual, educational and recreational needs.

SPIRITUAL We believe the most important need of these youth is to find hope in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and to learn how to develop this relationship.

EDUCATIONAL We believe inner-city youth need to develop confidence in their ability to learn and to get a chance to enhance their educational skills.

RECREATIONAL We believe that youth need opportunities to channel their creative abilities in various recreational environments.

Our Purpose
The purpose of SOAR is to establish long-term relationships with youth that facilitate spiritual and educational maturity in order to develop future community leaders
